Construction will begin this spring and the company expects to retain five existing jobs and create 50 new jobs. Four acres of automated greenhouses also are part of the expansion plans. Established in 1947 as Bloemenhuis Wolters, specializing in the sale of flowers and plants, Tuincentrum Wolters now stocks all kinds of products for embellishing homes and gardens in an area of 25,000 m². Wolters is one of the largest independent garden centers in the east of the Netherlands. With a complete range of attractive articles it focuses on the whole of the surrounding Twente region and the adjacent parts of Germany.
The EZ Scapes are chosen by collection, so gardeners will have a group of perennials with similar landscape performance and requirements. In addition to offering Proven Winners Perennials, Walters Gardens, Inc. will continue to provide their customers with a broad range of over 1,000 varieties of perennials, ornamental grasses, vines and groundcovers. All plants offered by Walters Gardens will continue to be sold as bare root and plug liners through their existing sales networks. Essentially we are a wholesale grower that welcomes the general public. Johnson’s Nursery provides Retail sales and Landscape design/build services from our Menomonee Falls headquarters. Our wholesale clientele of municipalities, landscape contractors, garden centers, and other nurseries can arrange to pick up material either in Menomonee Falls or our Jackson, WI Farm holding yards.
The EZ Scape handout can be customizable with the plants the retailer sells. The Walters Gardens team has sample handouts available at the company’s Cultivate’21 booth, as well as detailed fact sheets showing the benefits of the program to the retailer and the homeowner. In 2013, the garden center decided to expand its premises with a large restaurant and a home-furnishing department to enhance its visitors’ experience. Breddels Architecten interpreted Wolters’ wishes into an attractive wooden structure supporting insulated curved roofs, a terrace and an enclosed outdoor garden.
